The tumor of glomus jugulare is manifested by tumor formation of the glomus jugulare which is similar to other carotid bodies and is situated attached to the bulbus jugulare as a normal structure. Because of its situa-tion it may appear to cause tumefaction of the mastoid tip or the tumor may invade the middle ear or other temporal bone structures :specific symtoms may be manifested by cau-sing paralysis of the glossopharygeus and sympathetic nerves. The diagnosis of the condition is reached by making microscopic examination of the glomus jugulare to show the presence of tumor cells.

Attention to this condition has been enpha-tically called for the first time in American literatures with reports of number of cases but, the roports in the literature of this cou-ntry are yet to be seen. The present article is intended to be an introduction to this disease.
