Saito and associates report a case of pul-monary parasitosis that caused a considerable difficulty in arriving at a diagnosis. The only complaint that the patient, a man aged 20, made was that of being affected with bloody sputum. Various conditions that may provoke such a sign like pulmonary tubercu-losis, bronchiolectasis and spontaneous tra-cheal hemorrhage were supected but all tests pertaining to them proved to be negative. What lead the effort in diagnosis still further astray was the negative finding of parasitic ova in the sputum. Two months later the sputum test for ova was repeated; the diag-nosis was finally established by this repeated examination. The authors emphasize the ne-cessity of making repeated laboratory tests when cases are met with that present diag-nostic difficulties.
