Niho and Ida make a report of their experie-nce in use of trichlorethylene as inhalation ane-thesia for various operative procedures, major and minor, including even those consisting of after-treatment of operation, insufflation of au-ditory tube and X-ray examinations, where ane-thesia is necessiated or desirable for tranquility of the patient for successful execution of the particular procedure.

Where ordinary anesthesia mask is both cu-mbersome and a hindrance to procedures to be adopted in the nose, mouth and throat, suthors devise masks, oral or nasal use, to meet the occasion that may be required. With these amar-mentarium the use of anesthesia is, thereby, not only facilitated but also broadened in its application.

The present method is simple in application, safe in execution, and economical because it require no extra personnel. It has very little side-effects: relatively free of tracheal inspira-tion of foreign body because laryngeal reflex is preserved without a loss. In minor operations where sitting-position is perfereable, due to the fact that muscular tonus being preserved throu-ghout the anesthesia, such a position may be maintained during the procedure.
