Suzuki and associates made studies on the use of hormone-pellets for treatment of atrophic rhinitis and ozena. These pellets, consisting either of testosteron, estradiol or anterior pituitary hormone may be inserted into nasal tissues submucoperiosteally or-perichondrally or into the peritoneal cavity. Of the 33 cases in whom the pellets were tried insertions in 13 were made intra-abdominally and 20 intranasally. The treatment appeared to be most effective among female subjects who are in adolescent age group with simple atrophic rhinitis; to be least effective toward those who are affected with concommittant chronic sinusitis, cases in whom their nasal troubles arising postoperatively and those who may be affected with a true ozenr. The period of time with which the pellets seemed to be effective was estimated to be about 3 months when they were given intraabdominally and 6 months, intranasally.
