TAKEUCHI states that, in performing Rinne's test as a test for hearing, certain percentage of the result obtained as Negative Rinne is really a false negative, and, therefore unreliable. Such results occur when bone conduction of the opposite, well ear is so good that the subjective report of hearing response in the patient is in reality the product of the good ear. This fact is proved with results of testings performed on 77 ears. For this reason Rinne's test, per se, is quite inadequate a test for hearing when the loss of hearing in the particular ear be small, in amount or when that loss be great which may be existing unilaterally.
