HARA reports 2 cases of occupational deaf-ness that occurred among railroad workers with sudden attack of the disease. The term occupational deafness is applied to the condition where inflammatory changes are manifested in the eighth ne ve as a resulrs of the ear be-ing exposed to long contihued loud noiees. Such a condition when of long stanping is most resis ant to treatment and of the various methods that have been tried, heretofore, none have been really satisfactory. However, in these cases, the patients were advised to dis-continne their present occupation and were given a series of injections of vitamin B1 in large doses; impaired hearing and tinnit_ s their chief complaints were recoverd in ralcively a short period of time.
