TANAKA reports a case in which he believes that there was a direct connection between the cerebrospinal space and that of the endolymphatics by open saccus endolymphaticus. This conclusion is derived from the fact that there was a continuous flow of cerebrospinal fluid from the window of fenestration operation performed after Lempert's method. That the labyrinthine opening was connected to the cerebrospinal space was shown by presence of bloody fluid discharge at the ear following an experimental spinal puncture and by determination of sulfa drug concentration in the discharge after the agent had been introduced intratheccally. The author believes that, by this case, the theory which was advanced by Hurtle, Kibata and Tanaka that maintained the presence of means of circulation in the cerebrospinal fluid and the endolymph is herewith clinically demonstrated.
