YAMAGISHI and TANAKA treated 120 patients who were affected with paranasal sinusitis by Protz' method in which they employed lukewarm solutions of penicillin or homosulfamin for instillation. In comparison, better results were attained by use of penicillin than that of homosulfamin; in women more than men; in patients, when they were 30 years or over. Improvements and alleviation of symptoms were seen in the order of heada-ches, nasal discharges, nasal impairement and postnasal discharges; in types of affections as in the acute which was followed by acute exacerbations. Objectively, however. improve-ment appeared to be established only in about 15 percent of the cases treated but, the authors believe that, more could be expected if changes in concentration of the solutions be effected.
