Muta presents a case of cornu cutaneum of larynx, an affection exceedingly rare in occurrence. Thus far only two cases of this nature has been reported in the literature of this country including the present one.

A man, 65 years old Buddhist Priest, reported to complain that he felt as though a foreign body is lodged in his throat ; his voice had been hoarse for the past 4 months. Indirect larygeal examination revealed a tumor which occupied the anterior half of the right vocal cord, the color of which was whitish and hard in appearance. The mass after being removed weighed slightly less than 0.1 gm. with external measurements, 0.7×0.3×0.2 cm. Microscopic diagnosis of the growth was established as cornu cutaneum. No congenital cause was recognizable in connection with its etiology but, it may have been possibly brought on by presence of postnasal discharge from which the patient suffered as result of his chronic paranasal sinusitis and which acted as a source of incessant stimulation upon the vocal cord by dropping down from the naso-pharynx above. As to paucity of records of this affection in the literature the author questions whether it is not due to the fact that the disease had been overlooked because of insufficient interest in the examination of patients.
