According to Tsuiki, Portmann's operation of creating an opening into saccus endolymphaticus was effective in relieving the symptoms of dizzi-ness, which was the main complaint, in five pa-tients. These patients were incapacitated to the state of recumbency by severe attachs of dizziness, the so called status labyrinthicus, before the oper-ation. But, after the operation, they were freed of all symptoms to the extent that they might res-ume their former occupation and lead a normal life with a sense of well being.

Such experience, the author says, has established a fact with relative certainty that, there is a set of labyrinthine disease the symptoms of which may be readily relieved by measure that would release increasing pressure in the endolymphs.

The author states, the true uuderlying cause of this disease must be regarded as the factor which would continually create the state of increased pressure of the endolymphs, and, it is inherently present in the labyrinth as chain of physiological process.
