頭部顔面外傷に対するBrighton epistaxis balloonの応用

Brighton Epistaxis Balloon: Application for cranio-facial injury

I．はじめに

　頭部外傷患者の診療に際し，併存する顔面外傷や多発外傷による大量出血に苦慮することは，決して稀ではない．そこでそのような患者に合併する御し難い鼻出血の対策としてブライトン鼻血バルーン（Brighton epistaxisballoon）を用いた経験により，その有用性を報告する．

Head injury patients often complicate facial and/ormultiple injuries other than cranio-cerebral insultsand perplex the emergency staffs. The authors usedBrighton epistaxis balloon for such patients withmassive nasal bleeding and reported the utility of theballoon not only in such state of emergency but alsofor a few days to control the hemorrhage mostlycaused by craniobasal fractures or rupture of theadjacent vessels.

One hundred and twenty-nine patients were trans-ported and hospitalized in Department of EmergencyMedicine, University of Tokyo Hospital, Tokyo,Japan during the period from October, 1981 toJanuary, 1983.
