  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

A patient with Sparganum mansoni in the brain was reported. To date this tapeworm has been reported to be found in only two autopsied human brains in the literature. This is, to our knowledge, the first report in the world in which a live intracranial Sparganum mansoni was successfully removed. This 33-year-old Korean woman had complained of generalized tonic-clonic convulsion during the past five years.

Right frontotemporal craniotomy was performed and a live Sparganum mansoni was removed from the subdural space.
