Genetic counselingt for nervous discases

はじめに

　感染症による死亡が激減し，遺伝の関学した内因性疾患や先天異常による死亡が相対的に比重をましてきて，一般の人々が遺伝相談の機関を訪ねる機会がふえてきた。そして人類遺伝学の知識と技術の進歩によって，その与えられるサービスの質と量は大いに拡がって，世界保健機関^1）もいうように，今や遺伝相談Genetic Counselingは個々の人とそれをとりまく社会に対して，いろいろな医療サービスを与える責務をもった総合的な一つの臨床単位にまで成長してきたといえよう。

　The progress of medicine has reduced the number of diseases of infectious and environmental origins and the profile of major causes of death has changed to show a relative increase of hereditary diseases and congenital malformations, as well as constitutional diseases. Therefore, the heredity clinic has been recognized as a useful service in our society.

　We have accumulated over 2,100 cases of genetic counseling in seven different units since 1961 and made a follow up study of these cases. The most common motive for counseling was problems on the recurrence risk of the disease at the time of marriage or pregnancy.
