Early embryogenesis and T/t complex of the mouse

　どんなに複雑な神経系の分化の過程も1個の受精卵の中にプログラムされている。受精卵は，すべての遺伝子機能を発現する能力を持っているが，分裂が進むにつれてこの全能性がしだいに制限され，それぞれ異なった特性を持つ細胞群が作られる。神経系細胞への分化の方向づけは，まず外胚葉細胞への分化という形で始まる。

　外胚葉の一部は移動して中胚葉に分化するが，その他の外胚葉細胞は神経管を形成する。このようにして神経系の分化の基礎ができるが，マウスではこの過程は受精後8日目でほぼ完成する。これは受精から誕生までの全過理（約20日）の2.5分の1にあたる。マウスにおける卵と精子の融合から神経管が形成されるまでの過程をもう少しくわしく観察してみよう。

Abstract

Genes in the T/t region of chromosome 17 in the mouse are of considerable interest because oftheir possible roles they play in development. Mutations in this region causes cessation of embryogenesis at specific stages. Moreover, T/t genes have been shown to specify cell surface antigens and to affect activity of a glycosyl-transferase. These results suggest a possibility that T/t genes control embryogenesis via cell surface glycosyltransferases. Relation between t antigens and F9 antigen was discussed. Possible roles played by T/t genes in differentiation of nervous system are also discussed.
