  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Recent advance in studies concerning the human cerebral hemispheric specialization gave rise to a tendency to seek the origin of the specialization in subhuman animals. Development of the ape-language projects as well as an unequivocal evidence of a lateralized vocalization in song birds presumably facilitated the tendency. In consequence, studies of varied disciplines have been carried out with nonhuman primates in the above perspective. The author presented an introductory overview of current and preceding works by various investigators pertinent to the lateral dominance in nonhuman primates.
