An autopsy case of 50 year-old man with chronic alcoholism was reported. He had alcoholic addict during about 20 years and trank alcohol more and more after gastric resection because of gastric ulcer at the age of 49. From 1 month before death he had disturbance of consciousness, hallucination and muscular rigidity, and died of pneumonia. The clinical diagnosis was Wernicke's encephalopathy. In the central nervous system alcoholic laminal cortical sclerosis of Morel ("Morel's lesion") in the cerebral cortex and so-called "Pellagraencephalopathy" were disclosed.
