I．はじめに

　神経生理学の研究目標は，神経系の機能と構造を生体の行動との関連において解明することにある。そのための研究方法として電気生理学的手法が最も簡便であり，かつ示唆に富むものであることはその歴史が示すとおりである。しかし，神経系といえども，そこにおける現象はすべて，生体現象の一範疇にあることを考えれば，化学過程がその背景にあることを忘れることはできない。むしろ，電気生理学的手法によってシナプスや膜における化学過程の実体を推しはかることが一つの目標であるといえる。

　一方，電気生理学的方法によってニューロン回路網を同定するという目標がある。この目標は解剖学が有するものと類似であると考えられるので，しばしぼ機能解剖学と呼ばれる所以でもある。

Electronic computer is employed as one of the neurophysiological methods with the view of information processing, analyses and simulation of neuronal impulse sequences. Peristimulus time histogram, cross-correlation histogram and joint PST scatter diagram are used in general and of signi-ficance. Time series analysis of events has been applied upon end-plate potential. Not only the first order statistics such as the mean and standard deviation but the higher order statistics are neces-sary for our purpose.
