34 years old woman with typical symptoms and signs of systemic lupus erythematosus presented the transient signs of meningoencephalopathy and myeloneuropathy, 7 and 3 years prior to death respectively, which were almost completely controlled by steroid therapy. During the last remission, she died of septicemia of β-hemolytic streptococcus (not group-A), originating from the phlegmone of the scalp.
