I．はじめに

　1968年Baublis ＆ Payne^1）によりsubacute sclerosing panencephalitis（SSPE）から麻疹ウイルスが分離されて以来，いくつかの研究グループによりあいついで同様のウイルスが分離された^2〜4）。分離されたウイルス（以後SSPEウイルスと称す）と従来の麻疹ウイルス株，とくに弱毒株との比較研究，動物への接種実験などが行なわれたがSSPEの発症機序はまだ解明されていない。

　われわれもSSPE患者の生検脳から麻疹ウイルスを分離し^5〜8），その性状について報告したが，ここではさらにSSPEウイルスに対する組織培養レベルでのamantadineの効果，動物の脳内接種実験などについて報告する。

A measles antigen was isolated from the brain of a patient with SSPE. The characteristic syncytium appeared in cocultures with brain cells and Vero or HeLa cells. The identity of this agent with measles was confirmed in neutralization test, its capacity to adsorb erythrocytes and immunofluorescence microscopy. Nucleocapsids resembling measles virus in structure were observed in the syncytium. No free virus was demonstrated in cultured medium within 60th serial subcultures.
