  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Catecholamine neurotransmitters (dopamine, noradrenaline, and adrenaline) have important roles on a wide range of brain and autonomic functions in the mammalian nervous system. These functions are mediated by diverse subtypes of dopaminergic and adrenergic receptors. Each subtype shows unique expression pattern in the nervous system and mediates different physiological functions. Recent advances in gene knockout technique have provided an approach to investigate behavioral and physiological roles mediated by catecholamine signaling.
