Movement-related brain activities studied by cortical electric potentials were reviewed. Cerebral electric potential associated with spontaneous, self-paced repetitive movement has been studied as movement-related cortical potential (MRCP). In contrast, brain activities related to externally triggered movement has been studied as contingent negative variation (CNV), and its later part (late CNV) is considered to include a brain activity for movement preparation in response to external cue.
