  • Look Inside

The medial temporal lobe, including the amygdala (AM) and hippocampal formation (HF) , has been implicated in a various mnemonic and cognitive processes. In monkey and human, bilateral damage to the medial temporal lobe induces global amnesia, i. e., memory deficits extending to all sensory modalities. Anatomical evidence suggests that all sensory information converges on the medial temporal lobe, and mnemonic and cognitive functions of the medial temporal lobe may depend on such connec-tions.
