Amygdala role in emotional learning and memory

感情（情動）の記銘や記憶にもっとも関係の深い脳領域は大脳辺縁系であり，とくに扁桃体と海馬体は重要な位置を占める。解剖学的に，扁桃体には，視床および大脳皮質のすべての感覚連合野から，すべての感覚種の線維投射がある。また，破壊実験や神経生理学的研究により，扁桃体が快・不快情動の発現のための感覚刺激の連合学習や情動記憶に深く関与することが示唆される。筆者らは，ラットを用いて感覚刺激と報酬や嫌悪（罰）刺激の連合学習や記憶における扁桃体の役割を神経生理学的に解析した。その結果，扁桃体には多種の感覚情報を処理・統合し，感覚刺激と報酬や嫌悪刺激の連合学習および情動記憶に重要な役割を果たすニューロンの存在することが明らかになった。

Amygdala role in emotion was reviewed in reference to recent lesion and neurophysiological studies in the amygdala. Anatomically, the amygdala provides a link between sensory system and brainstem executive systems for emotional expression such as emotional behaviors, and autonomic and endocrine responses. Extensive lesion studies suggest that the amygdala is crucial in various kinds of motivated and emotional behaviors, and related autonomic responses. These functions of the amygdala critically depend on learning and memory.
