  • Look Inside

The relationships between frontal lobe lesions and dementias were studied from the clinicopathological viewpoints, based on our own autopsied cases. Neuropathologically, there are only very rare cases with lesions localized only in the frontal lobes. For examples, schizophrenic cases receiving frontal leucotomy usually have also more widespread gliosis in the cerebral white matter and secondary degeneration of the dorsomedial thalamic nucleus. In cases with Pick's disease of the frontal lobe type, the temporal lobe, dorsomedial thalamic nucleus and striatum are also usually more or less affected. It is, however, very important to study those cases clinicopathologically in detail.
