Abstract

The purpose of this study was to prospectively evaluate the effectiveness of imidafenacin on symptoms, QOL and urodynamics in women with urinary incontinence associated with overactive bladder. Female patients aged 20 years or older with OAB accompanied by urinary incontinence were enrolled at Kameda Medical Center and assigned to receive oral imidafenacin 0.1mg twice daily for 8-10 weeks. The endpoints of this study were the number of urinary incontinence episodes and urine pad exchanges, OABSS, ICIQ-SF, KHQ and urodynamics before and after the treatment. A total of 33 patients were included in the efficacy analysis. In urodynamic testing, bladder volume at strong desire to void increased significantly. Detrusor overactivity (DO) resolved in 7 of 13 patients. The number of urinary incontinence episodes in daytime and urine pad exchanges, OABSS and ICIQ-SF were significantly improved. Efficacy of imidafenacin on symptoms and QOL may be explained by its ability to increase the bladder volume at greater sensation of urgency and improved DO. Imidafenacin is suggested to be effective in treating female OAB patients with urinary incontinence (Rinsho Hinyokika 72 : 847-851, 2018).
