  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

1) A 41-year-old hyperuricemic male treated with benzbromarone showed heavy crystalluria of uric acid intermittently. Urinary crystals collected by centrifugation of the fresh urine sample at 37℃ werefound by X-ray analysis to be composed of pure uric acid dihydrate and appeared as rhomboidal or hexagonal plates under the scanning electron microscope.

2) Red-brown gravel was deposited on cooling the urine of a 50-year-old male with uric acid stone. The microlith was composed of pure uric acid dihydrate and showed a crop of large rhomboidal plates at the surface.
