  • Look Inside

The relationship between the size of ureteral stone and the period in which the stone passed spon-taneously was studied in 321 cases. In addition, the effect of trihydroxypropiophenone was examined.

The results were as follows: A stepweise increase in the period of stone passage was observed, as the size of the stone was larger. The stone with a size less than 4 x 5 mm passed spontaneously within 2. 5 months. In the stones with a size between 4 x 5 mm and 6 x 9 mm, abruptly longer period was needed for spontaneous passage. As the size became larger than 7 x 9 mm, another abrupt increase of the period was observed.
