Proteus感染による腎結石とHydroxyurea

RENAL STONE PRODUCED BY PROTEUS INFECTION AND HYDROXYUREA

緒言

　尿路感染，ことにProteusなどのurea-splittingbacteriaによる感染は燐酸塩結石を形成しやすく，また結石を除去しても感染が存続するかぎり結石の再発がおこり，抗生物質や化学療法に難治であることが知られている。このurea-splitting bacteriaの持つureaseに対する抑制物質（urease-inhibitor）が，治療の手段としてすでに一部で臨床的にも試みられている^1,2）。hydroxyureaもこの一つであるが，本邦では未だ使用されていない。そこで本論文ではProteus mirabilis感染により形成された腎結石に対するこの薬物の効果を，症例を呈示して検討してみたい。

By demonstrating the effect of hydroxyurea administration on patients with who had urinary infection of proteus mirabilis, the significance of urease-inhibition upon the treatment and prevention of the uri-nary calculi produced by proteus infection was discussed.
