  • Look Inside

A 24 years old married female was first seen on July 5, 1968, complaining of general malaise, pollakisuria, remittent high fever and occational gross hematuria of three month's duration. At the age of eleven, she had renal tuberculosis and received chemotherapy for six months.

Examinations revealed aseptic pyuria, anemia, azotemia (BUN 84mg/dl) and hyponatremia (127 mEq/l). Urography showed no dye excretion from the right kidney and marked hydronephrosis of theleft kidney. Urine culture for tubercle bacilli was negative. A diagnosis of renal failure secondary to tuberculous ureteral stricture was made.
