超音波断層法よりみた前立腺の大きさに関する触診とThumann計測の信頼性

A RELIABILITY OF SIZE ESTIMATION OF THE PROSTATE BY PALPATION AND THUMANN'S METHOD EVALUATED FROM ULTRASONOTOMOGRAPHY

はじめに

　超音波検査がものの大きさを計測するのに非常に適していることは周知の事実である。私達は経直腸的超音波断層法を用いて前立腺の計測を行なつているので，その測定結果から従来前立腺の大きさを判定する主な方法とされてきた触診とThumann計測について，その信頼性を検討してみたので報告する。

The reliability of estimating size of the prostate by palpation and Thumann's method was evaluated on the basis of data obtained from ultrasonic measurement using transrectal ultrasonotomography which was thought to be the best method for this purpose.

Palpation was not sufficiently reliable as a means of diagnosis, particularly when the prostate was very large or very small.
