  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

In one patient each with generalized psoriasis and generalized erythroderma secondary to atopic dermatitis Flurandrenolone (Drenison) tape, 1250 cm2/day (equivalent with 5 mgm flurandrenolone), was applied to the affected skin for a 20-clay period, during which time determination was made every clay of serum 11-0HCS and urinary 17-OHCS and I7-KS on these patients. During this treatment period serum 11-0HCS and urinary 17-0HCS both did not show any definite decrease suggestive of adrenocortical suppression. In a control experiment in the above patient with generalized psoriasis ODT with 0.012% flurandrenolone acetonide cream, 40 gm/day (flurandrenolone 5 mgm), was followed by such decreases in both serum 11-0HCIS and urinary 17-OHCS as were indicative of the existence of a slight degreee of adrenocortical suppression. The same patient, when treated with OUT with 0.01% fluocinolone acetonide cream, 50 gm/day (fluocinolone 5 mgm), gave serum 11-0HCS and urinary 17-OHCIS values low enough to indicate unquestioned adrenocortical suppression. Therapeutic results on eruptions, however, were better with ODT with 0.01% fluocinolone acetonide cream than with either of Drenison tape and ODT with flurandrenolone cream.
