  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Recently (in 1970 and 1971), cases of various types of the cutaneous candidiasis, which were found rarely some time ago, increased in abruptly. The reason may be abuse of topical corticosteroid ointments.

Cases of simple diaper dermatitis was rare, while cases of erythema mycoticum infantile in varying degrees were often seen. There were sudamina-like candidiasis, which followed sudamina in babies, candidial intertrigo of the axillae and in the genitocrural regions, candidiasis on the penis, scrotum and female genitalia, and vaginal candidiasis. In some cases, each other of a couple were infected. Not a few cases presented generalized candidiasis, which showed papular, pustular, squamous, follicular and/or seborrheic dermatitis-like lesions over large areas of the entire body surface. Ggeneralized pustular type of cutaneous candidiasis and candidiasis accompanied by Bowen's disease-like precanc-erosis were also observed.
