The first case of this disease in Japan on the right leg of a 36-year-old woman was reported. The classification of the primary localized amyloidosis proposed by the author is as follows: 1) Lichen amyloidosus, 2) Amyloidosis cutis nodularis atrophicans, 3) Amyloid tumor, 4) Poikiloderma-like amyloidosis, and 5) Miscellaneous.

The author found 12 cases of this disease in the literatures of Germany and U.S.A., and summarized clinicopathological characteristics of the disease. It shows multiple subcutaneous nodules in the women middle to old in age, especially on the legs. They have a cigarettepaper-like atrophic surface, yellow-brown to red-brown in color, and a hernia-like depression in the large lesion. Diagnosis should be confirmed by Nomland test and histologic findings.
