  • Look Inside

A one-year-and-6-month-old boy of this disease was reported. His skin of neck and nape was loosely attached to the underlying tissue and had such a great laxation that the semicylindric fold, a wing-shaped neck, was formed when his head was rotated.

Histologic specimen showed fragmented elastic fibers.

The skin lesions were bilateral, but the change was severer on the right side. No other mal-formation was proved.

This case belongs to Status-Bonnevie unilateralis according to the Rossi's classification of the wing-shaped neck. It is a rare condition due to cutis laxa.

By the resection of the excess skin, the wing-shaped neck disappeared. The wing-shaped neck is caused by two different kinds of cause, namely, laxation and excess versus lack, and tension of the skin.
