  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Two patients with massive hemorrhage due to cervical injury underwent successful hemostasis with a temporary clamping of the common carotid artery. Each of them had a semi-circumferentialcervical wound accompanied with massive hemor-rhage. Although the hemorrhage was found from the medium sized vessels, hemostasis was not achieved inside of the wound because of blood gushed from the wound. The temporary clamping of the common carotid artery was performed in a short period of time (8 minutes in one and 3 in the other), and the age of patients was young (26 years old and 29 years old). Therefore, there was no neurological deficit in both cases.
