  • Look Inside

The clinical features of patients with olfactory disturbance associated with nasal allergy treated in our department in 1993 were evaluated. About nine-teen percent of patients had the background of nasalallergy, which were divided into two groups ; nasal allergy group (NA) and nasal allergy with chronic sinusitis group (NACS). NA showed estrangement between detection and recognition threshold only in one or two standard test odors on the T&T ol-factometer, with normal intravenous olfaction test. On the other hand, NACS resulted in total anosmia on the T&T olfactometry and abnormal intra-venous olfaction test. Surgical correction using endoscope was advisable in cases of NACS.
