A rare case of renal cell carcinoma metastasiz-ed to the thyroid 8 years after the removal of primary tumor was presented. A 61-year-old female complained of an abnormal mass in the neck. The right lobe of the thyroid was resected, and histo-pathologial examination revealed a clear cell car-cinoma. Immunohistochemical examination ruled out a primary carcinoma of the thyroid and para-thyroid carcinoma. Postoperative course was uneventful, and no other metastasis was found.
Metastatic renal cell carcinoma in the thyroid is uncommon, but any patient with a tumor of the thyroid, who has a hisory of renal cell car-cinoma, should be thought to have a possibility of metastatic tumor.
