Central venous catheter(CVC)is a simple vein-securing procedure that can be performed at the bedside, in the operating room, or anywhere else. However, CVCs can occasionally stray into vital vessels or organs, which can lead to serious complications such as cerebral infarction, hemothorax, arteriovenous fistula or even death if not handled properly. In this report, we explain a case in which a CVC was incorrectly inserted into the common carotid artery and was removed and reconstructed through an external cervical incision.
