  • Look Inside

A 46-year-old female was hit by a rebounding bamboo stick in her left eye. When seen the same day, the left eye showed scleral supture with vitreous prolapse. We removed the foreign body, sutured the ruptured sclera and performed scleral encircling. The residual vitreous hemorrhage and subchoroidal hematoma were treated by vitrectomy, aspiration of subchoroidal hematoma, lensectomy, fluid-air exchange and intravitreal SF6 two weeks after the incident. The injured eye regained the final visual acuity of 0.3. This case illustrateds that severe eyeball trauma may result in fair outcome after immediate and adequate means.
