　Rb遺伝子の異常は網膜芽細胞腫の原因と考えられるが，網膜芽細胞腫細胞はTGF—βによる増殖抑制が効かず，それが悪性化のさらなる一因と考えられている。そのメカニズムを検討するためTGF—βI型受容体（TGFβRI）の蛋白質レベルでの発現を網膜芽細胞腫摘出眼8眼のパラフィン標本を用いて免疫組織学的に観察した。7眼ではTGFβRIは発現がみられなかった。未分化型の1眼の腫瘍内の血管周囲にTGFβRIの発現がみられ，腫瘍内の分化・成熟過程において異なったTGF—β受容体（TGFβR）の発現を示す可能性が考えられた。TGFβRIの発現低下が腫瘍のTGF—βに対する感受性低下に関与する可能性が推定された。

The expression of the TGF-β type I receptor (TGF β R I ) at the protein level in retinoblatomas was examined. Decrease of the expression of the TGFβ R I was observed in seven out of eight cases. In one tumor of undif-ferentiated type, there was the expression only around the vessels in the tumor. This result is suspected to be related with the loss of sensitivity to TGF-β and the variety of expression of TGF β R I in retinoblatomas.
