  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

We examined the static, kinetic and dynamic visual acuity in 267 athletes. Their ages ranged from 10 to 41 years. Another group of 28 non-athletes served as control. Static visual acuity of less than 1.0 was found in 40% of athletes. There was a significant correlation between kinetic and static visual acuities. No correlation was present between dynamic and static visual acuities. There was no difference between spectacle and contact lens wearers regarding kinetic and dynamic visual acuity. The findings show that good static visual acuity is a prerequisite for good kinetic visual acuity. That 40% of athletes have insufficient static visual acuity shows the need of visual acorrection by ophthalmologists.
