We followd up the clinical course of two diabetic patients using optical coherence tomography (OCT) . The first case, 59-year-old male, had been treated by panretinal photocoagulation 3 years before for proliferative diabetic retinopathy. The second case was a 49-year-old male with preproliferative diabetic retinopathy. In the left eye of the first case, decrease in visual acuity was preceded by increase in retinal thickness. In the right eye of the second case, scheduled vitreous surgery for macular edema was postponed because of gradual decrease in retinal thickness. The visual acuity improved later without surgical intervention. Fluorescein angiography could not be performed in both cases due to poor systemic condition or lack of willingness to the examination.
