We treated diabetic neovascular glaucoma by cyclocryotherapy (16 eyes) and by transscleral cyclophotocoagulation with diode laser (22 eyes) . The objectives of the treatment were to control the intraocular pressure (I0P) below 21 mmHg with additional topical medications and to prevent ocular pain in eyes with visual acuity of hand movement or less. Laser cyclophotocoagulation was superior to cyclocryotherapy by lesser intraoperative pain. Both modalities showed similar effects in controlling the IOP. Hyphema due to overcoagulation could be avoided by power output setting guided by pop sound during laser cyclophotocoagulation.
