  • Look Inside

A 20-year-old female consulted us due to disturbance of near vision. She had been engaged in an input work with visual display terminal (VDT) over 8 hours a day for 18 months. Her near vision increased from 0.3 to 0.6 right and 0.3 to 0.7 left after foggy test, suggesting the condition to be psychological in nature. State of accommodative paresis persisted after medical treatments. Spontaneous improvement set in after VDT work was discontinued for one week. Normal accommodative function was attained one month after changing her occupation. Psychological stress, due to anxiety and asthenopia due to VDT work and dissatisfaction with her place of work, appeared to have been the cause of accommodative insufficiency.
