  • Look Inside

We performed scanning laser ophthalmoscopy in a case with superficial optic drusen in one eye and embedded optic drusen in the other. Superficial optic drusen was well documented by confocal and dark field observations with helium-neon and diode lasers. Dark field mode showed the embedded optic drusen better with helium-neon laser. Confocal mode failed to show details with either laser light. As optic drusen tends to produce scattering because of calcium deposit, dark field observation is indicated to detect both embedded and superficial drusen.
