  • Look Inside

We treated 24 eyes of gelatinous drop-like corneal dystrophy. Lamellar keratoplasty (LKP) was performed in 16 eyes and additional keratoepithelioplasty (KEP) in 8 eyes. The postoperative follow up averaged 45 and 32 months respectively. Recurrence was the most frequent complication, followed by increased intraocular pressure, rejection and prolonged epithelial defect. Recurrence occurred in 8 eyes, 50%, after LKP and in 3 eyes, 38%, after LKP + KEP. The combined use of LKP and KEP appeared to be superior in regard to rate and timing of recurrence and the final visual acuity.
