  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Adenoclone® has been widely used as a rapid and simple kit for detecting adenovirus antigens. However, its positive rate is rather low comparing with that of virus culture. Therefore, the sensitivity of Adenoclone®, which is related to reaction times and serological virus types, was investigated. We also analyzed whether there is any difference of sensitivity in different lot numbers. Adenoclone® was shown to be more sensitive to adenoviruses type 3 and 8 than adenoviruses type 4, 11, 19 and 37. As for the two-step reaction times, the optical density of 3 hours combined with 30 minutes was about 2 times as high as those of 1 hour combined with 10 minutes. No difference of sensitivity related to lot difference of Adenoclone(R)was discovered in our clinical examination.
