マイボーム腺分泌物の塗抹細胞診

Smear cytology of meibomian secretion

　眼球表面の維持にはマイボーム腺由来の脂質は不可欠である。筆者はマイボーム腺分泌物（meibum）に混濁などの異常を認めた18例18眼を対象としてmeibumの塗抹標本を作成し，ヘマトキシリン・エオジン染色を施行し鏡検した。対照は正常者5例5眼であった。対照では少数の角化細胞のみを認めたのに対し，meibumに異常の認められた例では多数の角化細胞を認めたもの2眼，非角化上皮細胞の認められたもの12眼，好中球やリンパ球の認められたもの4眼であった。これらより，異常meibumの出現には，炎症と管腔上皮の増殖の異常を伴う角質増殖が関与していることが示唆された。

We performed cytological study of smear of meibomian secretion, meibum. We collected smears from 18 patients with irritable ocular surface and with viscous or turbid meibum.

Samples from 5 normal subjects served as con-trol. The smears were stained by hematoxylin -eosin. The meibum from controls contained a few keratinized cells. Samples from 18 pathologicalcase showed numerous keratinized cells in 2, non -keratinized cells in 12 and neutrophils or lymphocytes in 4. The findings suggested that abnormal meibum may be related with inflamma-tory processes or hyperkeratinization with paraker-atosis of the epithelium.
