Abstract Purpose:To report the 1-year postoperative results of iStent inject® W.

Material and methods:A total of 34 patients with 55 eyes(75.3±10.2 years old, 30 female eyes)who underwent intraocular drainage with phacoemulsification(iStent inject® W)for open-angle glaucoma were included in this study. Intraocular pressure(IOP)and glaucoma eye drop score were compared preoperatively to those measured at 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months postoperative.

Results:The mean IOP was 15.9±2.9 mmHg preoperatively and 13.5±2.2 mmHg at 1 month, 13.4±2.3 mmHg at 3 months, 13.6±2.6 mmHg at 6 months, 13.5±2.7 mmHg at 9 months, and 13.5±2.7 mmHg at 12 months postoperative, a significant decrease compared to preoperative values over the entire period(Dunnett's test). The mean glaucoma eye drops scores were 2.2±1.0 preoperative and 0.8±1.0 at 1 month, 0.7±0.8 at 3 months, 0.7±0.7 at 6 months, 0.8±0.7 at 9 months, 0.9±0.8 at 12 months postoperative, showing a significant decrease compared with the preoperative value.

Conclusion:Use of the iStent inject® W lowered the mean IOP and eye drops scores up to 12 months postoperative in patients with open-angle glaucoma.
