Abstract Objective:To compare the clinical outcomes of intraocular lens intrascleral fixation, including fixation position(tilt and eccentricity).

Subjects and Methods:Forty-five patients(50 eyes)who underwent intraocular scleral fusion using NX70S(Eternity®, 7.0 mm optical diameter)or PN6AS(Avancy®, 6.0 mm optical diameter)by the same surgeon at Tohoku University Hospital between March 2020 and March 2023 were included in this study. The patients were observed for at least 3 months. Intraocular lens tilt and eccentricity, refractive error between the target refraction and the target refraction at approximately one week postoperatively, and postoperative complications were examined retrospectively.

Results:The 50 eyes comprised 11 eyes with treated with NX70S and 39 PN6AS. There were no significant difference in postoperative lens tilt angles(NX70S 7.73±4.99°and 7.99±4.59°)and eccentricities(NX70S 0.58±0.29 mm)and(PN6AS 0.59±0.33 mm)between the two groups(p=0.75 and p=0.53, respectively). Postoperative refractive error was 0.78±0.55D in the NX70S group and 0.64±0.52D in the PN6AS group, with no significant difference(p=0.17).

Postoperative complications included high intraocular pressure(7/50:14%)and vitreous hemorrhage(4/50:8%), but no reoperation was required.

Conclusions:There were no significant differences in lens tilt, eccentricity, or postoperative refractive error between lenses with different optical diameters treated with intraocular lens scleral fixation.
